Tattoos on tour! My sister is a massive book lover, and she went as far as getting a Seeing Dead and Cuckoo tattoo. Here’s the Cuckoo one in all its glory. What do you guys think? 🥹📚

More Devon pictures for y’all.
You’ll all be glad to hear I haven’t had any bother from the pet cemetery yet. There was a rogue duck that came back from the dead and attempted to quack me to death, but it was unsuccessful. The key is brown bread, the perfect distraction.
I hope everyone else’s weekend is going welll!

Didn’t know how long my hair was until it got THIS windy. And it was seriously bloody windy.
Hello! In Devon at the moment, sapping up the last juices of summer. Look, there’s even palm trees! Love the oldy worldy houses too. Also the pet cemetery, which is literally right outside the hotel. Not creepy at all…
Basically this is just a photo dump. No book news or nothing. Boring. But I’m having a good time! Book news is coming. But for this weekend, expect some more random, unrelated Devony pictures. Because why not?

Spooktember is upon us, and that means it’s the perfect time to pick up some spooky books. Like my ones!
To the left, we have The Secret Cuckoo Cabaret Club, an American monster story. And to the right; we have Seeing Dead, a Scottish ghost story. Take your pick (but pick one of them, otherwise Jack will be sad he posed for nothing).
Oh and if you go even FURTHER to the right, you’ll see where I am right now. In a little cottage in Devon, with beams! Love a beam.

Hey, here’s me and Jack, the newest addition to the horror household.
He’s actually Steve the skeleton’s distant cousin, on an exchange from Transylvania. And he’s quite the little poser.
As you can see, I took him out and about to see some Edinburgh sights, and he stole the show. Even chatted up a few bats, the scoundrel.
Expect to see more of him in future posts, but please make him feel welcome. It’s not easy being the new guy.

The last Q&A video! In this one, I talk about inspiration for The Book Of The Summer, whether Steve the Skeleton is for sale, whether there’ll be a Seeing Dead sequel, and… whether I’ll write a smut book… 👀😅
Give it a watch!

Part 3 of my Q&A series! In this one, I talk about potential character names, whether I’ll write a fantasy book, and what my proudest moment as a writer has been so far.

Q&A Number 2! As promised, here’s the next part in what has become my Q&A series. In this one, I talk about ideas for future books, I get confused about what’s actually in Seeing Dead, and I reveal my favourite character. Enjoy!

Here we go! Because of Instagram’s 3 minute thing, I’ve cut my Q&A into four reels. The second will be published in an hour, and then the next 2 tomorrow. There were a few questions, y’all! Enjoy the rambles! Oh, and there are mild Cuckoo spoilers in this one, so beware.

Me and Steve think it’s a great idea to do another Q&A. It’s been so long!
Ask me anything. About Seeing Dead, about Cuckoo, about Book Of The Summer (although answers might be a little cryptic on that one), about writing, about ideas, about what I had for breakfast (bowl of bran flakes for me, the light of the undead for Steve).
Whatever you want, any burning questions, shoot it my way. It’s now or never. Well, not never. I’ll probably do one again. But this is now! I’ll be answering them in a video tomorrow! Looking forward to it.

Got a bit wet channeling my inner David Attenborough. I mean look at those heron photos, caught on takeoff! Actually quite chuffed with that. But I didn’t go on this rainy walk to practice wildlife photography. I went on it to think.
A lot of ideas were had while I was at the beach, and I want to continue mulling over them here in Edinburgh.
Wait, what are these ideas, I hear you ask… If Book 3 is finished why are you having to think about anything at all? What’s going on, Edgar D Jackson?! And what exactly does the D in your name stand for?!? Tell me!!!
Okay maybe you asked none of that, but they’re all fair questions. And I wanna answer them! I want to start announcing more stuff, and getting balls rolling, but I must filter myself. I’ve been told to after all, and I always do what I’m told.
Apart from when I don’t. I mean I literally just sent the first chapter off to a reader in the post (again, well done @lauracakes2 for winning the comp!). But apart from that, I’m normally good!
Anyway, I’m just looking forward to revealing more. But until then I must think, and have ideas, and take wildlife photos. Apparently.
Catch you all soon!

Announcing the winner of The Book Of The Summer competition…

It seems good old Steve the Skeleton can’t stay out of the limelight…
Hey, the competition for the first chapter of The Book Of The Summer is ongoing!
Well, it’s supposed to be ongoing. As a matter of fact, it’s supposed to end tonight at 8 o clock, but I don’t wanna prolong anyone’s misery.
One of you got it! That’s right, one of you guessed correctly, and I’ll announce just who in tomorrows post. The winner will not only get the first chapter, but also a handwritten extra (which I like so much I WISH it could be in the book, but nope, it’s just for the winner!)
Thanks to everyone who got involved, and I cant wait to reveal who gets the prize tomorrow morning. Stay tuned… 🐯⚡️

COMPETITION TIME!
So here’s the deal… I’ve announced the title of Book 3. If you’ve been following my account, you might have caught that. And there’s a tiger in the title card. I love a tiger. There’s something quite artsy about them, and artists seem to agree, as there are SO many famous tiger paintings.
One of those paintings is quite important to The Book Of The Summer, and if you’re able to guess what it is, I’ll send you the first chapter, as well as a handwritten extra that NO other reader will get!
All you have to do is screenshot the painting and put it in your story, making sure to tag me in the process. First one to get it, wins. Starting now! Google image away! Time runs out tomorrow evening!

Happy weekend everyone! What’s this I have in my hands? Only the manuscript for BOOK 3! Title page and all (although I should note, this isn’t the official cover)!
It’s a thick old boy, quite cumbersome to carry around Edinburgh. But worth it. I even sat down and flicked through some pages, putting myself in the position of the reader.
And oh boy, it’s good. I know I’m not meant to say that, but really… I’ll put it in brackets to pretend I’m whispering: (I think it’s really good!)
But, hey, you don’t have to take my word for it, you can find out for yourself…
That’s right, tomorrow, at 10 in the morning, I’ll be announcing how you can get your hands on the FIRST CHAPTER of The Book Of The Summer. The full chapter. Along with some handwritten Easter eggs in a neat little envelope. How exciting!
But you’ll need to be fast, so if you don’t wanna miss out, make sure to swipe the thingy in my story and I’ll give you a tag.
Catch ye!

I can’t be here and not think about Seeing Dead.
I loved writing this book. It was a pain at times. I got stuck in a hole after about 60,000 words and had to leave it for half a year to find my way out of it.
I also remember having to sit up at night for at least two weeks and just THINK about how that last scene in the house could work.
But it was all worth it. Nothing but good memories. Nothing but nostalgia for the whole thing. Nothing but warmth.

Think I’m getting a bit too into the sea-loving spirit here. Got a hat and everything.
Ah well, let’s talk about Grisham. If you told me a few years ago I’d be into reading legal thrillers I’d have told you to walk the plank.
Sorry, I mean I would have told you to leave the room in a calm, competent manner. But really, Grisham just does legal thrillers differently. They’re interesting, for one. And the characters hook me instantly.
Did I say hook? I meant grab. Ah, sod it. Read some Grisham if you haven’t already. And get a hat while you’re at it.

Claiming this as a blue book. Love a blue book. Having said that, I don’t think I’d make any other book of mine blue. I hate it when authors repeat colours. Every book needs to look different on the shelf! Or is that just me?
Anyway, I digress. The Hound of the Baskervilles. This book was a massive inspiration to me growing up. I remember reading it right here on this beach, a wee nipper, and it hooked me immediately.
My books fall into the supernatural mystery genre, and this novel is probably a good reason why. I mean, this IS a supernatural mystery. At its heart. And it’s glorious. Even if you haven’t read any other Sherlock Holmes books (and I haven’t) this one is a must read.

Still at the beach. I said in my last post that this was a great place to write, but it’s also a great place to just lie down on the sofa and read, cut off from the rest of the world.
Like this book (or books). This has two of my favourite Stephen King books, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, and The Body.
The Body, in particular, was a big inspiration for Book 3, but how and why is something you’re all gonna have to find out!

Back to the beginning. Feels so nice to be back at the beach in Southampton, tucked away in a little cabin. This is where a LOT of Seeing Dead was written. In fact I even infused it into the book itself, which you’ll know if you’ve read it! Oh, and if you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for?! It’s waiting for you right there in my bio! 💀🌊
